    Hi,

as we are preparing the iOS release of our game, is it possible to run the game in the iOS simulator on a Mac computer?

I’ve got a Mac but no iOS device, so this would be great.

    Cheers, Chrisu

    Hi Chrisu,

we currently do not build Felgo for the simulator target. The main reason is that, in comparison to available Android emulators, the iOS simulator is not constrained in CPU and memory usage like real iOS devices are (the simulator is only constrained to your Mac’s CPU and memory resources, etc). Therefore performance tests are rather meaningless on it.Β On the other side the OpenGL (ES) performance on the simulator is, in most cases, much worse compared to the performance on real devices cause some of the iOS hardware features are only software-simulated using the Mac’s renderer.

So the only benefit would be to test if your code and logic is running at all, and here comes the desktop target into play. πŸ˜‰ If you’re using a Mac as development machine you can look forward to the upcoming version 1.3 which comes with much smoother and more accurate font rendering on Mac OS X.

So the better option would be to check if there is an iOS device around your connections and then test your game in a more realistic environment. Hope this sounds reasonable.

However, if this would be a feature you really want to see feel free to add it to our roadmap thread, we are absolutely happy about every request! πŸ™‚

    Cheers,
    Alex
