It works but I had to check “Clear system environment” on “Build Environment”. Now I don’t have problems on desktop builds so thanks a lot.
But I wanted to know if there’s a special process to make symbian builds using V-Play. Also I was wondering if apps made with this engine are compatible with Nokia 500 running Belle Refresh because that’s the only phone I have for testing.

    Hi,

the Symbian libraries that come with the SDK were built with Symbian Anna. Please try if they work for Belle, if you are building it against it. If they are not compatible, we can send you the library built with Belle Refresh!

    Cheers, Chris

When I use Qt 4.7.4 for Symbian Anna (Qt SDK) seems to build ok but it doesn’t run on my device. If I switch to Qt 4.7.4 for Symbian Belle (Qt SDK) it doesn’t build. Here’s the result:

    Hi,

I tried to run and deploy with the Symbian Anna target to a Nokia Belle device (C7) and it ran fine. What exactly did not work when you run the project for Symbian Anna target?

You could also try the following, if you need to select Symbian Belle target:

    Copy the files

    • VPlay.lib from <Your V-Play SDK Directory>\Symbian\SDKs\Symbian3Qt474\epoc32\release\armv5\urel to <Your V-Play SDK Directory>\Symbian\SDKs\SymbianSR1Qt474\epoc32\release\armv5\urel
    • VPlay_debug.lib from <Your V-Play SDK Directory>\Symbian\SDKs\Symbian3Qt474\epoc32\release\armv5\udeb to <Your V-Play SDK Directory>\Symbian\SDKs\SymbianSR1Qt474\epoc32\release\armv5\udeb
    • v-play.prf from <Your V-Play SDK Directory>\Symbian\SDKs\Symbian3Qt474\mkspecs\features to <Your V-Play SDK Directory>\Symbian\SDKs\SymbianSR1Qt474\mkspecs\features

After these steps, building and running with Symbian Belle worked fine at my PC.

    Cheers, Chris

Done. It didn’t work. I can transfer the sis file made with Anna target to my device and it installs ok but it doesn’t run. I’ve done some research and found that Nokia 500 have limited graphic capabilities because it doesn’t have an OpenGL ES GPU. Instead it features a simpler OpenVG GPU. Maybe it’s not compatible with V-Play’s rendering engine.

Oh ok, that explains the issues! At least an OpenGL ES GPU is needed for the hardware accelerated rendering used in V-Play.

Thanks for finding out and I hope you have another device for testing? As the game is guaranteed to look the same on desktop and on mobile devices, you can also develop your game on Windows and test on mobiles later on.

    Cheers, Chris
