If you want to run some code periodically you can also use a timer. Then you don’t need a loop. The timer will trigger the function every 500ms.

Timer {
 id: timer; interval: 500; running: true; repeat: true
 onTriggered: doSomething();
 }

function doSomething(){
    ...
}

MultiTouchArea{
   ...
   OnClicked: {
        timer.start();
     }
     ...
   }
}
